PERIQUITA ELECTED BEST ENTRY LEVEL
RED WINE IN NORWAY

NORWEGIAN PUBLICATION, DISTINGUISHES PERIQUITA ORIGINAL 2012

....................

Periquita Original 2012 was recently distinguished in the renowned Norwegian publication klikk.no as best entry level red wine (below 120 Norwegian Kroner), having been rated 84 points.

Present in Norway for over 40 years, Periquita is currently one of the best-selling Portuguese wine brands in this Country, enjoying high notoriety.

The history of Periquita is interwoven with the story of José Maria da Fonseca itself, beginning in the 1820s when the founding father of the company, José Maria da Fonseca arrived in Lisbon and bought several local properties. One such purchase, most probably in 1846, was Cova da Periquita. It was on that property that José Maria da Fonseca planted red grapes of the Castelão variety, which he brought most probably from the province of Ribatejo. Although we are not sure when the first vintage was produced we are certain that by 1850 Periquita was already being made.

Periquita is now the oldest brand of Portuguese table wines having acquired down the years a widespread popularity in Portugal and considerable brand awareness insophisticated export markets such as Sweden, Brazil, the UK, the USA, Canada, Denmark and Norway.
